Triumphant return

I have been somewhat busy over the last month or so but today I have more work to put up. Below is Ray "The Razor" Martinez. He is a bartender/bar owner by night, and during the day he tries to make time to train as an MMA fighter at Hudson Martial Arts Academy. He is 6 - 0 and local promoters find it hard to get him fights due to lack of funding in the area. He is well liked in the community and gets along very well with others but goes home feeling very alone. The story I've come up with revolves around him and a new tournament he considers entering that is financially backed by a mysterious benefactor. He reaches the last round of the tournament and strange abilities begin to manifest themselves.

A Familiar Original

This is the beginning of an original character I've been making based on myself. I have designed and redesigned him over and over again and will continue to do so until he is perfected. As for now, this is just some head shots. Even here I made a mistake. The eyes on the bottom picture should be more red in color.

Marvel vs DC: MMA style.

Live on pay per view.

Steve 'the Captain' Rogers goes toe to toe with Bruce 'the Batman' Wayne. Will it be Rogers KO power and stamina, or does Wayne have too many tools at his disposal against the combat veteran?

Gotham Nights: The Ventriloquist

Arnold Wesker is the Ventriloquist. A mob boss who has to use a puppet based on the old movie Scarface starring James Cagney and the actual gangster Al Capone. He is meek and quiet with no backbone and uses the puppet to manifest his masculine side. In other words, he has dissociative identity disorder. One of the better elements of this character (or characters) is the fact that some believe the puppet is sentient and that Wesker actually works for him. I thought a good update for him would be to remove the small and functioning tommy gun because those don't really exist. I also used the Brian DePalma Scarface which is a remake of the original movie, so the puppet is modeled after Tony Montana, instead of the puppet having a gun, you can see that the gun is actually in the puppets head, and sticks out of its mouth when its time to shoot. Playing the role of Wesker would be John Lithgow for several reasons. First, he's one of the best actors of all time. Second, his role as the Trinity Killer on Dexter was one of the best things to ever be put on television, and this character shares more than a few similarities to the Ventriloquist. Thirdly, John Lithgow looks exactly like Arnold Wesker.

Gotham Nights: Season 3: Deadshot

For my dramatic interpretation of Floyd Lawton, I would take a lot of of the comics elements into consideration, mostly due to his character being one of the more realistic villains in the Batman lore. What is he? A good shot. Nothing more than a sharpshooter, something that can be accomplished, and has been accomplished by many a Navy Seal. The difference is in his origin and his motives. In his failed attempt to shoot his abusive father to stop him from hurting his beloved older brother, the branch he was sitting on cracked, and he missed, killing his brother in the process. This has shaped everything he is and why he never misses. The costume is more simplified than in the comic because it can be very much acquired in the real world, guards and padding for his knees and shins, boots, gloves, an athletic tight shirt and the costume is done. What sells him is the custom mask. The trademark eye piece. The guns. I was never a fan of the wrist guns, I always preferred Deadshot to hold them. In this case I thought he would be a bit louder fashion-wise, so I opted for Desert Eagles as magnums not only do death dealing damage, but also fire a loud bang. The gold plating on them adds a hint of expensive taste, and since Deadshot is all about money I thought it would work in the design. The scope and laser pointer obviously aid him in using such a powerful handgun, especially if he is using one hand for each, which is not recommended for Desert Eagles.

Season 2: Harley

Growing up on the Bruce Timm and Paul Dini animated Batman series gave me two things. One is a smug disposition towards any and all cartoons made after Justice League. The second is a love for a character born in the series, but taken out and transitioned to multimedia Batman history. Harley Quinn was of course ironically named Dr. Harleen Quinzel which of course, is not a real name. Regardless her madness manifested when she was treating the Joker in Arkham Asylum. Since then she's been in video games, other cartoons, the comics, and even the terrible and short lived Birds of Prey tv show. I thought she would have looked great on the big screen though, or the small screen again in my Gotham Nights TV show concept.

Edward Nigma: Private Investigator

I had another idea for a TV show. This one takes place between The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises. It would barely feature Batman and when it did he would never say anything. It would just be about knowing he\'s there. It would almost be like a buddy cop drama set in Gotham. It would be an excuse to Nolanize more characters without making more movies. I know they were interested in having the Riddler played by Leo DiCaprio. They opted for Bane instead. I used that as inspiration for the face. The rest of the design is based on the later comics stories where the Riddler goes legit and competes with Batman in terms of who can be a better detective. My idea for a Gotham Nights TV show season one would involve the Riddler losing his business as an investigator because of Batman, driving him to exercise his genius and penchant for puzzles to create crimes he believes only he could solve. I would imagine Michael Pitt from Boardwalk Empire would be. Suitable replacement for DiCaprio and I think the old timey pants hiked up brings out the sort of OCD like qualities that old fashioned people tend to exhibit, and OCD is an affliction Riddler is said to have in many stories.

Nolan-verse Nightwing. (Spoiler)

This post assumes the reader has seen the movie The Dark Knight Rises. The character John Blake represents the Robin character of this series. Played by Joseph Gordon Levitt, he was equal parts Jason Todd, Dick Grayson, and Tim Drake with a small bit of Terry McGuinness thrown in. If the Nolan movies are an else worlds styled miniseries, condensing the Robins into one singular person and naming him Robin John Blake is a stroke of genius few people will really grasp. Now at the end of the movie, he inherits The Batcave and all the wonders inside. Is he the new batman? Is he Nightwing? Whatever the case I dont think there are any plans to answer the questions but rather this movie was an attempt to say that Gotham City\'s story never truly ends. I took the liberty of putting Levitt in a Nightwing suit as if it were designed for a continuation of Nolan\'s movies. Essentially it would be a modified version of the bat suit from Batman Begins without the cape or cowl.

Clark Kent is dead: Part 1

Much like my posts about characters after the passing of Batman, I went for new looks for the Superman family.

The first is the usurper of the throne in Conner Kent/Kon El, better known as Superboy. He is taking over the Superman name but would prefer not to take the image. He forms a team of characters who have to graduate or grow up so to speak. They use the symbol from Kingdom Come and Conner goes for the Tshirt and jeans like before the relaunch, this time with boots over the pants. Kara Zor El or Supergirl must be Superwoman now. This is all about change and differentiating from Superman while keeping his message alive. She loses the cape, the blue, and the sleeves, but gains thigh highs. All the way right is my curve ball. That is Jimmy Olsen as the new Steel. He always wanted to be a hero like Superman but never had the means (except those really bad stories where he did).

There is no Batman: Villains

I have been on vacation is California for a week which was great. While there I was able to plug away and get a few pieces done. The first one I wanted to get is the first set of Batman villains redone as if Batman had really been permanently dead. I deliberately am choosing villains who have a history of attempting to reform. The death of Batman is inspiring. To some villains it is their only purpose being removed. With less reason to be bad, and no challenge in the form of Batman, they get pointed in the opposite direction. The first two I picked are Bane and the Riddler.

I wanted to use characters who go against the stereotype of brains being an equivalent to weakness. Bane is obviously a physical character as well as very intense, but his fame from breaking the bat for those who remember the story, is in his strategy. Not inherently evil, and inspired by Batmans death, he uses intimidation to his advantage. The carving of the symbol in his chest heals daily, so every time he goes out, he carves it again and again. For Riddler, I always felt he was depicted as too weak, despite him being one of my favorites from the animated series and from Arkham City. Even in Hush where they reveal him as partly masterminding the entire plan, he complains about not getting respect. As his greatest challenge is dead, he rededicates himself to crime fighting and detective work, a profession he dabbled in before the new 52 relaunch. Only this time, like Batman, he opts for a dramatic, and more physical appearance. No longer content to simply outwit his opponents, he wants to get a bit more physical this time around.

Simple Spawn

In the early 90s Todd McFarlane made a character who was intended to be a new definition of cool. He may have been generically tragic. He may have been an obvious attempt at being "cutting edge". He may have even been a 70% rip off of an earlier McFarlane creation in Venom. I would say he is all of those things but still more. Despite being of similar design to Venom, he maintains a great sense of originality. Part of this is story telling but the other is design. The difference maker for me is the cape. The splashes of red in his costume, made more integral when they took the red out of his full body suit. This is a hard design to make changes to and it is easily memorable. The only thing you can do is make themes like Medieval or Gunslinger Spawn. (Gunslinger Spawn is awesome, google him.). Because of the Venom similarities in the 90s, I opted to go with a biker look to him. I like simplifying characters to strip them down to their basics. I enjoy the challenge of removing detail while keeping the character recognizable. Enjoy.

The other Summers Brother.

Alex Summers aka Havok. The forgotten one somehow gets more and more forgotten as the years go by. Today people don\\\'t even remember that he once led the Xmen before they had 10 different teams and books. They forgot that he gets along very well with Wolverine in contrast to his big brother Cyclops. They also forget that he is one of the more powerful Xmen to this day. My goal here is to give him a costume people may remember him in. It still maintains his need to contain his powers through his chest piece. It keeps his Xmen colors. It can cover his head like his old costume and it has a jacket like his 90s costume. I thought he needed a haircut so I took care of his hair too.

Justice Icons

I was recently tasked with redesigning DCs most iconic characters. The Justice League. To speed up the process I used the simplistic yet sophisticated style of Bruce Timm. No one, I repeat, no one understood how to put characters into cartoon form better than Timm. Everything from Batman: the Animated Series to Justice League Unlimited was a flawless take on the DC universe. For my redesigns I opted to make two for each character. Each character having a solo career as a hero, and each having an official Justice League uniform.

First is Batman.

I reversed his typical color scheme to slightly mimic his look from the current movies. The front of the belt is also from said films. The symbol extends to the outer edge of the cape.

Next is Superman.

I took the capes connection at the neck from Superman: Red Son. I changed the yellow to white to give him a more patriotic look, reversed the symbol colors, and removed the underwear from outside his pants.

Wonder Woman.

If she is meant to be an amazon warrior, while also being a superhero, she should look the part. I never understood her big hair so I streamlined her look but left in the things that make her who she is. Lasso, wrist guards, tiara, all present.

Hal Jordan.

I wanted his new suit to look similar to his current uniformed the green stops above the waist at a point. Rather than have the symbol on the suit, the suit is the symbol.

Martian Manhunter.

I didn\\\'t want him to be half nude anymore. So I gave him a full body suit similar to his suit from Countdown. I flared his boots very long because that is how Alex Ross designs them and he is amazing. The hood I added just to sort of make his red eyes more intimidating in the darkness it would provide.

Aquaman.

I wanted a more royal, or medieval look to him. I looked at some outfits from Game of Thrones and tunics. I also looked at his Kingdom Come appearance and took away from it that I should combine royalty and super heroics. The beard commands respect and I used more colors on this one than any other despite seeming to only have two.

The Flash.

I know very little regarding Barry Allen because I find him boring, on top of which he died when I was 5. I prefer Wally West as the Flash because he is awesome and was great in the Justice League cartoon. My favorite appearance though was Kingdom Come where he wore Jay Garrick\\\'s helmet and was not much more than a red blur. His face was covered in red there so I did the same thing. The boots are now sneakers, because his power is speed, so boots never made sense.

Justice League.

The suits on the right only make sense together. Rather than be a collection of individual heroes, they are a unit.

There is no Batman. Part Deux.

My previous post promised a secondary team of Bat-family members. This time comprised of Red Hood (Jason Todd), Batwoman (Kate Kain), and Huntress (Helena Bertinelli). I envision this team as similar to The Outlaws, currently led by Jason Todd. His middle child syndrome has maybe calmed down a bit since Bruce Wayne passed but he still maintains his tougher stance on criminals. The ears on the helmet and the symbol are his tribute but also his pledge of allegiance to the Batman family. He was so bad as Robin that fan voted to have him brutally murdered as a teen, a terrible Red Robin which lasted only a few issues, and as Batman was immediately defeated by Dick Greyson. Red Hood is the only success this character can have. I picture him as somewhat militaristic in his leadership role. Next is Batwoman. I confess I don\'t know much about her aside from her being a lesbian. I put her on this team because of her existing color scheme. I also confess that I don\'t find much wrong with her existing costume so redesigning her was tough. The changes were minimal but the symbol and cape are directly connected going over the shoulders. I added some light gray just to match Jason. The boots are extended for more red and I opted for a topless cowl on her head and face so bat ears can come out of her hair. Last is Huntress. She was difficult because she is a good character who has never, not once, had a decent costume, in about 8 different costumes. They have all been terrible. She is hardly shown gliding so there is no need for a cape. Her mask hides no facial features so it\'s useless. She was too violent so she was not allowed to be Batgirl. She is vengeful and angry, but has worn some of the sluttiest superhero outfits ever imagined. I had to fix this and I think I succeeded in giving her a believable look she could wear in comics. I think this would also fit if she were not on the team. This costume with the red and black changed to purple and navy blue would be just as effective.

There is no Batman. Part 1.

The first word in concept art is concept. What is the reason or story behind the design. For these I thought of the squandering of Batmans death from Final Crisis. Bruce Wayne is Batman, there should be no replacement. It diminishes his work if someone else can just be the same. Dick Grayson is not a substitute for him. He is Nightwing, which is a good thing because he has come into his own as Nightwing. Putting him in the bat-suit just made him seem like diet Batman. Now if you want to kill Batman off and make his death have an actual impact on others, you use his death to inspire. The Batman family doesn't have him to rely on so they have to borrow a slang phrase and step their game up. Below from left to right is Tim Drake as Robin, Dick Grayson as Nightwing, and Stephanie Brown as Batgirl. Like Dick for Nightwing, Tim has embraced the Robin character. The Red Robin costume from Kingdom Come, just doesn't work without Alex Ross painting it. If Batman inspires after death than certainly a black cape and cowl work here. I kept the R symbol but placed it in the center like a classic hero, as if to remove the idea of him as a sidekick. The Red tunic has the shape of a bird including the part under the belt mimicking a birds tail. Nightwing has always taken the look of a darker but still bird-based theme. With Batman dead, it was time for a significant change, and it turns out bats fly at night and have wings too. The core design is still Nightwing but the upper body has the colors reversed to mimic some of his older Nightwing costumes which always featured more blue. The bat replaces the featured wings and the now his head is covered. One thing I think Dick would do to keep differentiate him from Bruce is uncover his nose. Stephanie Brown got to be Batgirl for about 12 minutes before the relaunch and no one remembers. It was a role where no one really did a decent job after Barbara Gordon. Helena Bertinelli is better and more known as the Huntress, Cassandra Cain never speaks so getting to know her as a character never going to happen, and Barbara had grown into the Oracle role better than anyone would have guessed, so in my opinion, Stephanie Brown, who was basically useless as Robin or Spoiler, was the best chance to make Batgirl a character again and I don't think she was given a fair shot. This design is equal parts Huntress, Batgirl, Spoiler, Robin, and Batman. To be her own Batgirl I thought she might go overboard on the bats. Two on the boots which is a Batgirl staple, one on the domino mask, the utility belt, and as opposed to a symbol on the chest I made it a functional part of the suit, attaching the cape.

The New Kingpins of NY.

I had this idea for a long time about a marvel world where everything is reversed because Captain America dies in WW2. America takes a few years longer to advance in technology and pick itself up by its bootstraps. Most of the Fantastic Four die in the space accident and Sue Storm survives but never tells anyone about her powers or status as The Invisible Lady. She marries Victor Von Doom who pursues a career in politics and eventually becomes president. While his intentions are good, the country and world is too broken to fix. Good is bad. Bad is good. Frank Castle and Remy LeBeau are partnered up assassins with a specific agreement of Frank handling humans and superhumans, while Remy handles mutants and they split all earnings.

They come up with an idea to make a killing while inciting a street war between rival crime families called "the Masks" and "Club X". The Mask family is lead by another partnership. The Kingpins of New York City are Peter "the Spider" Parker, whose Aunt May was shot by a burglar leaving him with his grieving Uncle Ben who was too distraught to pay attention to Peter's shifting morals. Seen below with his girlfriend Felicia "the Cat" Hardy.

The other Kinpin is Matt "the Devil" Murdock. A blinded District Attorney who hated the chief of police Wilson Fisk due to his involvement in his father's imprisonment and subsequent death in prison when he was young. Seen below with his girlfriend Elektra "the Hand" Natchios.

I based the girls faces on female MMA fighters Gina Carano and Rhonda Rousy.

Something Good in the World

Everyone feels strongly about something. Some feel strongly about many things like myself. Sometimes you feel so strongly that saying something, anything, is better than saying nothing. So if one of my goals in life is to put good things into this world, then let this be one of them. Very soon Marvel is set to release an X-Men issue that will include the marriage of a male mutant and his gay life partner. This has caused a stir among moronic parents all over the country. I know the topic of gay marriage is sensitive to some, but it isn't to me, because I've always been intelligent and never lost sight of that. Why is this such a sensitive topic? It's because a lot of people (I will not say the majority) think gay men are gross. It's not because of the bible. It's not because they are afraid for their children. It's not because they're simply conservative and thats how it is. It boils down to an illusion. Illusions are for children. I deal in reality, and reality is, a lot of people just think gay men are gross. Now for the controversy. They are gross. Why? Because men in general are gross. At our best, with rock hard abdominals and a lean figure, well groomed, and fresh out of the shower, we are still just gross. Our genitals are gross, and our asses are gross. I don't know why straight women tolerate how disgusting we are, but thankfully, they do.  Perhaps I'm getting off topic. I'll explain what it is that has driven me to deliver an important message here. Today I read something written by an old classmate of mine. She is a mother now. Like many moms out there, she is "outraged" at Marvel for putting this comic book issue out. She followed this outrage by saying she is NOT homophobic (she is). She then begins to ask where the innocence of children has gone. Now let me give some back story, this person was a fan of the 90's X-men cartoon when we were in high school (because it was awesome). To read what she wrote tells me a number of things.  Firstly, she has no idea what she is talking about if she believes this is removing the innocence of children, as last time I checked, child molesters and the catholic priests already got hired for that job. Secondly, she has no clue about the X-men or the character getting married. Let's talk history. In 1963 the X-men were created, and with them came the characters Professor X and Magneto. These characters represent something extremely significant culturally. That's right, they weren't just children's entertainment. Who would have thought? They represent Malcom X and Martin Luthor King Jr. OHHH snap. Guess what. Mutants represent black people during the civil rights movement. Why? Because Stan Lee and his associates wanted to tell stories about how and why discrimination is wrong. Let us fast forward to the 80's when a fairly unknown mutant called Northstar comes out of the closet and shouts that he is gay for all the world to know. This happened almost twenty years ago and it never mattered to this day. Keep it moving. DC's Wildstorm imprint published a gay marriage between two characters called Apollo and Midnighter. Essentially they were a gay version of Batman and Superman. It never mattered to this day. Why the issue then? Simple, gay marriage already existed in comics and has for several years.  The multitude of reasons a person is ignorant for having outrage of this happening in an X-men comic are very telling. What it tells me is the following. One, you missed the point of the X-men's very existence for the last 49 years. The message is tolerance, acceptance, and peaceful coexistence. If this was not the case, they never would have bothered making characters with blue skin or purple hair, or characters who were so ugly on the outside they would rather live in sewers than have to put up with the stares they get in the outside world, or characters who prefer the same gender. Two, you still think comics are for children, because you don't read them. So in essence, you are for unnecessary censorship of a medium you take no part in experiencing. You are for this only because the X-men are famous and you think gay guys are gross (Mystique is into girls and you probably never knew that, because you don't read comics). This isn't the first time this happened and gay people are not exempt from the truth either. This is the same thing that happened when Eminem said things about gay people in songs and the gays came out in droves demanding apologies or demanding the songs be dropped from his extremely popular albums. The problem with this is that they never demanded the same thing from DMX or Guns and Roses or Dire Straights when they did the same things in their songs. Just like moms never cared about gay marriage in comics until the X-men (a book essentially about tolerating all types of people) did it. Three, you are showing me that you are willing to lie to yourself and to everyone else about how YOU feel about gay people, and you will use your own children to justify your innate sense of obvious bigotry (again because you think gay guys are gross, but are probably ok with lesbians, because they are women, and therefore not gross). You "think" your child is somehow in danger because a character who has been known as a homosexual for about 20 or so years is getting married and it has clouded your logic so much you forgot about conventional wisdoms like, oh I don't know freedom. Freedom to realize that comics are not really geared towards small children anymore unless otherwise specified (again, because you don't read them). Freedom to have a conversation with your child instead of holding their eyes and ears shut in hopes that they stay as close-minded as you are. Freedom to, I don't know, NOT PURCHASE THE ISSUE! As opposed to thinking logically and doing any of those things, like an intelligent person, you instead think it would be a better idea that Marvel not put the issue out, causing them to lose money, or cut that part out by way of censorship. Because Punisher blowing the heads clean off people graphically is less offensive than, a guy in love with another guy. There is also of course the possibility of option four, you are conservative or evangelical. Not unlike those who use their kids as an excuse, many out there use religion as an excuse to just hate. It would be less offensive if a person like this just told the truth about their own feelings (that they think gay dudes are gross), instead of using a God as an advocate. Speaking of which, while the Bible does say a few things against homosexuality, Jesus himself says absolutely nothing about it. He was probably too busy befriending a prostitute and being kind to people who don't deserve it, or allowing himself to die for the sins of everyone.  I am not here to tell people what to believe, nor am I writing to back an agenda. I am instead here to just tell you that if you are any of the people described in what you've just read, you are wrong and you need to look at yourself closely. Whomever you are, you have a great deal of anger or hate within yourself and you have chosen the easiest target to discriminate against because it is common to dislike that which we think is repulsive. The things I read today filled me with sadness because I expect better from people of conventional intelligence. Your children will lose no part of their innocence by simply knowing two gay men or characters got married. You know this, but if you say it, you won't have that reason to say the dumb things in your head. So instead you say the opposite. The illusion again, is that children will be scarred. The REALITY is you don't want to think of the possibility of your child being gay. You are afraid because you don't want to fail as a parent but you know you won't love your child the same if he or she is gay, which means you already know you might fail as a parent, and you don't want to face that possibility. You don't have to want your kid to be gay, to not be a hateful of homosexual. I don't want my kid to be gay any more than I want him or her to be short, or fat, or weak, or stupid, or deformed, but guess what, that might happen. For all the effort I may put into preventing it, it still could happen, and I am prepared to love my child irrelevant of any of these things. That is the reality of homophobia. That is the reality of bigotry.  Unfortunately, bigotry is immortal. If tomorrow homosexuality and homosexual marriage was accepted by all people, then the next day, someone will find something else to hate people for. It is the people like you, whomever you are who fall into this category, that have made the world worse. Not the gays, not the blacks, not the jews, not the latinos, not the muslims. The bigots. Every last one of you who is unwilling to accept an image that differs from your mirror, or your minds eye. It is this attitude that covers your thought process and makes you forget the fact no matter how many rights you take away from people, you can never take their behavior away. If you let men marry men than they might marry dogs. What you are saying is you don't believe gay people are human the same way straight people are. At the very least, you think they're crazy in some way. Which is funny, because people who are deemed crazy, are still allowed to get married legally. Someone actually asked me today "well some people love children, should they marry them?". Guess what, in some states that is still allowed, as is marrying your cousin. Why are mother's bent out of shape about this and why do they want to censor one of the mediums I care about, but the Jersey Shore is acceptable entertainment. You are responsible for societies downfall. You are the reason being a teacher is no longer a worthwhile profession to go into because you have given your own children no credit for being able to grow up and learn. Instead you have given them excuses to not have homework, not pay attention in class, and treat anyone however they feel like treating them. You feed your children fast food and lies and you teach them that no matter what the situation is, if they feel a certain way, it is everyone else's fault. It's gay people's fault that marriage has no meaning today, not adultery, or communication skills. Now that I've finished I believe I can sleep tonight knowing that maybe I put something good in the world. I wonder if any of the One Million Moms can say the same thing.

New Guy Gardner: Two for One

Guy is sort of a cult fan favorite for the Green Lanterns. Considered to be sort of Dennis Leary with a power ring he brought a rebellious attitude to what would otherwise stand for order. Initially he just wore the standard suit until it was decided Green Lanterns could personalize their look. His redesign reflected the style of a biker... Sort of. It was more like a biker vest over super hero tights. When he wasn't a lantern anymore and got a yellow ring he even went further and wore a biker jacket and the tightest jeans imaginable. Regardless of his look, it was agreed that the mushroom haircut had to go first. Again a green lantern, he wears this same suit which still clashes for a lot of people. My suggestions may be more well suited for him.

This one makes it a full jacket and normal pants while keeping the exact same color scheme and symbol placement as his current and most recognizable costume. White gloves, green boots and chest, black for everything else, and a much less silly act of not tucking in the biker jacket.

This one modernizes the look entirely. The jacket is more along the look of a leather racing jacket. The dual tones pay the slight homage to the previous while the shirt underneath supplies the symbol.

Martian Manhunter: Alien Detective

Martian Manhunter has a plethora of powers. Among them is shape shifting which he uses to be a legitimate police detective. He makes a deliberate choice to look human as a cop, and compromises his alien look to appear more heroic. I propose the idea that he is open to the public with his powers and status as a Martian who lives and works on earth. He is respected for being good at his job and doesn\'t feel the need to compromise or hide.

I read DC too. Here is Firestorm.

Firestorm is probably the most powerful character in Dc that no one cares about. I think the outfit has something to do with it. There's no sense of having to contain radiation and the outfit looks extremely outdated even at its sleekest.

If he's supposed to be able to hang with the Justice League he should look the part. He doesn't have a small easy to remember symbol but the design on his shirt doesn't need to change. Essentially any exposed skin should have fire or energy waiting to escape.

Sabertooth from MvC2

Just wanted to see a cleaned up version of the small sprite from Marvel vs Capcom 2.

Gambit as a team player.

The 90s was the decade of dark and mysterious characters to the point where potentially interesting characters had to just conform to nonconformity. Deadpool started out as just a tribute to Deathstroke with a cool red and black color scheme. Tell his story years later and make him funny, and he becomes one of marvels most popular characters. Gambit started out as a mutant thief with a past he wanted to escape. Throw in a relationship with someone he can't touch and over time he becomes a forgettable member lost in the shuffle. Remove the drama of his past and let him be with his woman and he becomes popular enough to get placed in several marvel/capcom fighting games. Somehow he's been thrown back into the "let's feel sorry for him" crowd. The idea is that he supposed to be cool and a different kind of antihero. He needs a do-over to compliment a new story. If he no longer has anything to hide he can feel free to relax, be free, and concentrate on being a hero. These reflect him as a team player. Putting weapons and trench coats on a character doesn't automatically make them cool anymore.

My Ultraman tribute to Chrisopher Reeves.

If DC wanted to integrate a new version of the Crime Syndicate I would like to see more thought into really making them "anti" versions of the DCnU heroes. If the new Superman is sort of a new status quo for a superhero who stands for good, then the opposite should be an evil whose design is traditional. So here is Ultraman with a new look of the same colors as Superman but in reverse, with a return to tights and undies outside of them. The greeting hair reflects the older sensibilities of a tyrant. This also reflects Christopher Reeves in age had he not passed away. The face I used was from evil superman in superman 3. Yes I know, that movie was terrible.

Iron Fist

I did a sort of villain design for Iron Fist. I used Ryan Phillipe as the model.

Luke Cage is Power Man starring Isaiah Mustafa

The Old Spice guy is awesome and wants to play Luke Cage. I don't think this should be in a movie, but I think a Heroes for Hire TV show starring Power Man and Iron Fist would be a great idea. For those unaware Power Man was Luke Cages original hero name. I think today if he were to adapt a more traditional "super" attire while still maintaining a modern sense, it would look kinda like this. I used Isaiah Mustafa's face as the starting point.

Using his traditional color schemes I used yellow with either black, blue or green. This is the blue series.

This is the green.

This is two color and high contrast.
